9/25 Luke 15-17

In Luke 15 Jesus confirms what we see many times on Sunday morning.  When a person comes forward and gives their life to Jesus, repents, confesses, and is baptized we all rejoice because one more person is saved to live in eternity with God in Heaven.  At the same time the angels in heaven are also rejoicing.

8“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

The story of Lazarus and the Rich Man in Luke 16 is something we see play out to many times in this world that we live in.  Someone who had it all, all that is, except for Jesus.  It never crosses their mind that they should be thinking about eternity and that Jesus is the only way to get to heaven.

27“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30” ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ “

Even when someone rose from the dead, they didn’t believe it then, and many don’t believe it now.  It is our mission to help as many as possible to understand this simple truth.  Jesus died for our sins and he rose on the third day to defeat dead for all that will believe in him.  Who’s with me?

  1. Amen…there is no greater a gift then that..Jesus died for our sins..there is no other way but through him…the mission is clear, the truth is simple, but the word is always not heard clearly by those who don’t believe. We can only keep trying it is our mission.
