10/4 John 11

John 11 is mostly about the people mourning Lazarus’ death and Jesus raising him from the dead.  While I believe that Jesus could of easily showed up earlier and healed Lazarus.  He of course had bigger things in mind, like glorifying His Father through the resurrection of Lazarus.

21“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”

23Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

27“Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

Jesus puts it all in a nutshell in verses 25 and 26.  That when we believe in Jesus, we will live and never die.  This of course is means spiritual life vs spiritual death.  He asks Martha if she believes and she makes a truly awesome confession there in verse 27.  Which sounds very familiar if you are already a Christian.  It is much like the confession the we all made at one time.  This may be a good time to talk to a friend that hasn’t made that confession yet.  What do you think?
