Involvement: Part One/Two

There are many different facets to getting involved, but most importantly are the reasons why we need to get involved. The number one reason why I want all of us to be involved is that we all are part of an amazing family and I want everyone that attends here to experience the same excitement of God and His church that I do.

Each one of us, irregardless of our gifts, experiences, knowledge, biblical understanding or background, needs to find what God wants from us. Understand that we will all at one point in our walk need to take a step and grow. I passionately believe that we need to grow in the knowledge of the truth that is found in the Bible and find their place in our family.

Many have asked what is involvement or better yet what does it mean to be involved; am I involved and “how involved do I have to be?” First of all, we are defining involvement at Northside where as those participating with us can find fellowship, personal growth, Gods love, and the feeling of being at home. As we all know it will all take some effort from us to grow, make friends, and feel at home. Just like being at home, there are many things that need to be done, which are not to be confused with a chore list but the understanding that each of us need to find a place to belong.

In 2 Peter 1:3-8 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self‑control; and to self‑control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.“ Realizing, to grow we need to make the effort in our lives to involve God in all aspects.

Eph. 4:11-16 “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Our involvement will help us grow and will strengthen us and support our family as we work together. We are the body and we need to not only serve together but we need to grow in the knowledge together. We have some amazing moments ahead of us and many dreams before us though we can not accomplish them without all of us “Stepping Out”.

Your involvement in learning, fellowshipping, and serving is vital to the success of our family. So to quote the movie Jerry Maguire, “You had me at hello”, no that is not it, “Help Me, Help You!” This is it in a nutshell: help us help you and by empowering us to help, we in turn can equip you to help others.

The full circle of our family “Love God (Connect), Love People (Grow & Discipleship), and Serve Daily.”  Living for Him is not a Sunday morning moment; it is letting God in and allowing Him to be the center of your day. Start each morning with “I choose to live for Him today!” This starting point will make a huge difference in how you approach your day and witness that each day is a better day because you are focused on God.

Many blessings to you and your family, our family.
