11/26 2 Timothy 1-2

In chapter 2, Paul goes into great deal about words and how we use them.  Not to quarrel because it brings no value.  Or godless chatter because it makes us more ungodly.  These are important concepts because in today’s world it seems that all we do is quarrel.  About sports, politics, and other non important issues.

14Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.

Again starting in verse 22-24 Paul warns us to stay away from those things that we did when we possessed less wisdom.  Instead we should look to those things listed here, righteousness, faith, love and peace.  And whatever you do avoid stupid arguments about stupid topics.  If you want to be known as a servant of God, avoid arguments.

22Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.

I doubt that you could we one soul to Christ by trying to out argue someone.
