12/2 Hebrews 4-6

The writer of Hebrews in chapter declares Jesus as the High Priest.  Our high priest is able to identify with our weaknesses and temptations since he also walked this earth and had to deal with the very same things we do.  He reacted much differently than we do, he did not sin during his time on earth.  We on the other hand can hardly claim that.

14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Because Jesus was without sin and because of his sacrifice, we can then do what it says in verse 16.  Approach the throne of grace and receive God’s mercy and eternal life.
