12/9 1 Peter 1-3

In chapter 1 of 1 Peter we learn several instructions that we need in order to attempt to be holy.  First we must prepare our minds for action.  Next we must be self-controlled.  Thirdly we must set our hope on the grace of Jesus.  Fourth we must be as obedient children.  Lastly we must no longer conform to our evil desires.

13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

It is difficult for us to imagine what it means for us to be holy when we compare that to a holy God.  I often wonder what must I do to have my name and the word holy compared in the same sentence.  At least now I understand how to get started in the right direction.
